they just dont want a delena ending becoming 2 obvious so what better way than have ian himself say its not gonna happen. its all P R bullshit just like whan he said there will be cave sex with katherine and stefan and that was all a lie. they just want ian 2 cool it cuz they know his fans r the biggest and the loudest but we r far from being stupid or naive. we love u ian but we know this is not ur opinion at all cuz u have said urself that its damon's turn 2 get sone lovin instead of stefan and we completely agree.

I think that actually, this comment was taken out of context. I think he was saying that because Damon is a vampire, and a bad boy, then he can't be with Elena because it would be a case of the lion and the gazelle/predator-prey scenario and it wouldn't work. Which is a valid point, but then you could also say the same thing about SE. Stefan's a vampire and one who's more addicted to human blood than Damon. So...where does that leave SE??

It's very weird that Ian would say something like this, but I honestly don't think he means it, exactly. He knows way more than we do about what lies ahead for DE, but he can't tell us what it is. As a matter of fact, I believe this interview came out on the eve of 3x02. Nina's always being quoted as saying that she thinks Elena will always be committed to Stefan, and the producers constantly make statements downplaying DE and raving about SE like they're reviewers for a movie of SE's epic love. IT MEANS NOTHING. Fact: if the producers et al weren't taking DE seriously, they wouldn't be giving them all this screen time and giving them all these great scenes. They can talk all they want, but it's what they DO on the show that matters the most.

@delenasalvatore, what you put makes sense and I agree. To this day, Ian's interview still confuses me. He was all pro-Delena before and couldn't stop praising them. Then that came out. I'm hoping it's just stuff the producers are making him say. And yes, if Delena weren't important to the show, they wouldn't keep putting in great DE scenes.
